Me Me Me influences

I'm going to kick off with with my first Me Me Me blogger blog.

Hi,
Glynn Hobson here,

I was thinking about where to start with this me me me blog, as I have said, it is to be about me and who I am (and hopefully WHY I am). Intended mainly as a 'reference point' for my family BUT you are more than welcome to visit!

I have been recalling what I consider to have been major influences in my life (by the way I am 56 years old now) and one that came immediately to mind takes me back to the early 70's.

Not long turned 20 years old, married and a new family (my daughter Clare Marie). And all the pressures that came with this new experience. I left a secure job in the Education sector, I was a technician at our local Technical College (Mexborough Schoffield Technical college) studying engineering. Secure but not enthralling! And I needed more income.

I left this position and after a short spell in 'Work Study' I joined the ranks of the Self Employed selling Personal Accident Insurance, I was crap at it, I just could not believe I was offering the best product for the best price. I put insurance in the same category as "Gambling".

The Company would supply us with motivational material which, if my memory serves me well, was called "Success Unlimited" by (I think) Edwin Stone? Anyway it pointed me to a book called Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. A guy encouraged by Carnegie to study successful people and analise their successes so that others could replicate them.

Over 30 years later and I STILL READ THIS BOOK.

Think and Grow Rich: Gold Edition: A must read for entrepreneurs, businesses, webmaster and other professionals
